Peak Season is Upon Us

November 10, 2016

Seabridge Global Logistics News

PEAK season in shipping is upon us and some trade lanes have been experiencing limited space availability, and the implementation of general rate increase (GRI).

This may be surprising due to the environment of gloomy annual growth and stagnant freight rates of recent years. However, the recent mergers, acquisitions, formation of further alliances and consolidating of services has changed the balance of supply and demand. This has been significant enough in 2016 to force an upward trend in freight, specifically in freight out of China and other major hubs.

With the recent fall of Hanjin, which was the 7th largest carrier in the world, the situation has developed where space will most likely continue to be limited until the end of peak season early next year.

Seabridge is working closely with all our partners to minimise costs and ensure that freight is received on time. We recommend that importers continue to plan, order and book early. This will reduce potential disruptions and delays and enable greater flexibility, possibly reducing costs.

We are committed to providing the highest level of customer service possible, offering complete transparency and developing the optimum solutions for our clients. Your account representative will work tirelessly to ensure freight arrives on time, if you have any concerns about peak season please give Seabridge a call on 1800 727 195. Alternatively, speak with a representative today to discuss future freight forwarding plans.
